Feel Time is Running Out? It’s Never Too Late To Pursue Your Dreams

Read Time – 3 Minutes

I’ve had several conversations with people recently which had a ‘time is running out for me’ and ‘it’s too late for me’ theme.

A lot of people think it’s too late for them.

Too late to follow your dream. To change direction. Reinvent yourself. Take your career to the next level. Start the business. Finally, be successful.

The Myth

We have these pre-conceived ideas that we should achieve X by Y age. And if we don’t, then we’ve missed the boat.

So, you end up wasting time thinking that your time is past. Time that could have been spent working on the thing!

But here’s the truth, many of the world’s most successful people don’t even begin to work on their dreams until their 50’s or 60’s.

Take super successful artist Anna ‘Grandma’ Moses, who didn’t start painting until her late 70’s.

Or Martha Stewart who didn’t publish her first book until she was 41. Laura Ingalls Wilder who wrote her first Little House on the Prairie book at 65.

Katherine Johnson excelled at NASA in her 50’s and 60’s and Louise Hay was 58 when she founded her publishing company.

Buying into the myth that ‘time is running out for me’ is such a common mistake.

You’ve accumulated decades of experience, knowledge, and skills that can be leveraged to make a significant impact.

It’s called wisdom.

Whether you’re 30, 40, 50 or 60, it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. Success has no deadline.

So, start dreaming again. Start believing it’s possible for you.

Here’s how to get started:

3 Steps to Reconnect With Your Dreams

Step #1: Reignite Your Imagination

Take 10 minutes to sit quietly and visualize your ideal future. Visualise what you’re doing, how you feel, the impact you’re having and contribution you’re making. Write it down in your journal.

>> This will give you clarity – which is such important fuel.

If you struggle to imagine a compelling future that excites you, then repeat this exercise every day – you’re just out of practice. 😉

Step #2: Find Your People

Surround yourself with people who encourage and inspire you – people who make you feel alive and excited.

>> And if you don’t have those people today, that’s okay, just focus on finding these relationships.

Talk to people about their future, their goals and dreams. Just talking about the future with people will ignite your motivation and belief that’s it’s possible for you, too.

Step #3: Get Started

Whether you’re 20 or 60 you’ll never feel truly ready. And waiting or putting it off isn’t going to make it feel any easier. So, just get started. Identify the first, smallest thing you can do towards your goal and do that.

>> An object in motion will remain in motion, and an object at rest will stay at rest.

That’s why it’s SO important to just do the first, smallest thing – it gets you into motion. And then it’s so much easier to keep going from there.

Final Thoughts

Remember, falling into the myth of ‘time is running out for me’ limits your potential, and holds you back from pursuing dreams and opportunities that could bring growth and fulfilment.

You deserve to thrive.

It’s never too late for you. Reconnect with your dreams, reignite hope, and create a clear picture of what you’re working towards.

Cheering you on,
